AWARDS: Ian, Farah Ann Top Honours

FOLLOWING their strong showing at last year's Sea Games, swimmer Ian James Barr and rhythmic gymnast Farah Ann Abdul Hadi bagged the MSSM-Milo National Sportsboy and Sportsgirl awards respectively in Alor Star on Thursday.

In Palembang, Ian won two bronze medals, in the 200m medley and 4x100m medley relay while Farah claimed a silver medal in the uneven bar routine at the Sea Games.

They received RM3,000 each from Education Ministry director-general Datuk Seri Abdul Ghafar Mahmud at the awards ceremony at the Alor Star City Hall.

Chess player Sirafuddin Munawwir Ahmad won the boys' most promising category while squash player S. Sivasangari won the girls' category on the back of her Asian Junior Championship Under-13 title triumph in Amman, Jordan last June.

Most Dedicated Teacher (Male): Ithnin Mahadi (athletics); 
Most Dedicated Teacher (Female): Lim Chew Sim (netball);
