Three More Sports To Join MSSM League Competition

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Schools Sports Council (MSSM) are set to increase the number of sports with a league competition to six from the current three.

At the moment, three sports – football, netball and sepaktakraw – have an age-group league of their own in addition to the annual MSSM competition. Hockey, badminton and athletics will join the ranks this year.

MSSM director for sports Ee Hong said the three league competitions would take off this year.

“The planning is in the final stages. The dates for the leagues will be announced soon and we will also provide the details of the format as well.

“We want to increase the number of leagues to six this year,” she added.

MSSM started the league competition in 2009 with football. Two years later, it was extended to netball and sepaktakraw.
