Malaysia hits gold medal target via Tze Liang, Muhammad Nazreen

NAYPYITAW, Dec 21 — Malaysia have met their target of 40 gold at the SEA Games in Myanmar when the diving pair of Ooi Tze Liang/Muhammad Nazreen Abdullah won the men’s 10m synchronised platform event at the Wunna Theikdi Aquatics Centre today.

 

The event today concluded Tze Liang’s outing in the games with three gold and Muhammad Nazreen with two gold.

 

Malaysia is holding high hopes for the eighth gold when Nur Dhabi Sabri/Leong Mun Yee turn out for the women’s 10m synchronised platform later. — Bernama

SEKOLAH SUKAN BERI IMPAK BESAR KEPADA INDUSTRI SUKAN

KUALA LUMPUR 2 Okt- Sekolah sukan kebangsaan dan sekolah sukan negeri memberi impak cukup besar kepada industri sukan tanah air. Menteri Belia Dan Sukan (KBS) YB Khairy Jamaluddin berkata, kewujudan dua sekolah sukan iaitu Sekolah Sukan Bukit Jalil (SSBJ) dan Sekolah Sukan Bandar Penawar (SSBP) banyak membantu kontinjen negara meraih pingat di temasya sukan antarabangsa. "Saya melihat statistik sekolah sukan bahawa lebih kurang 350 orang atelit dari sekolah sukan telah mewakili negara didalam lapan belas edisi temasya sukan Komenwal 1998 Kuala Lumpur hingga sukan Olimpik London 2012 denagn pungutan pingat 101 emas, 93 perak dan 89 gangsa," katanya ketika menjawab soalan Ahli Parlimen Sabak Bernam Tuan Haji Mohd Fasiah Haji Mohd Fakeh di Dewan Rakyat hari ini. Khairy yang juga Ahli Parlimen Rembau menjelaskan, pihak kementerian percaya dengan penubuhan sebuah lagi sekolah sukan di Gambang, Pahang, ianya dapat menempatkan lebih ramai lagi bakat atlet kebangsaan. Katanya, walaupun sekolah sukan tidak diletakkan dibawah kelolaan KBS sebilangan besar mereka ini menjalani latihan di bawah program di Majlis Sukan Negara (MSN) sama ada di peringkat elit mahupun pelapis. Tambah beliau, KBS sedang melaksanakan program pencarian bakat di peringkat akar umbi melalui kerja sama dengan Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia (KPM). "Pembangunan bakat atlet daripada umur mula sehingga mewkili negara adalah dalam jangka 8-10 tahun. Ia bermula daripada latihan awal asas sukan dan seterusnya kepada peringkat spesifik sukan mengikut umur. "Melalui program pengenalpastian bakat, bakat-bakat muda diterapkan dengan elemen-elemen sains sukan seperti permakanan, suaian fizikal, psikologi dan lain lagi agar diamalkan dalam budaya hidup sebagai seorang atlet bagi melahirkan atlet negara berprestasi tinggi semenjak alam persekolahan," ujarnya. Beliau juga berkata, program ini merupakan usaha kerajaan dalam melahirkan lebih ramai atlet-atlet remaja yang berbakat.

BJSS trounce St George in Under-15 decider

 WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS BJSS players, officials and coaches celebrate after receiving their prizes   29th September, 2013                       KOTA KINABALU: Bukit Jalil Sports School (BJSS) emerged champions of the Borneo Football Cup Under-15 tournament after cruising to an easy 6-0 victory over St George FA of Sydney, Australia in the final at the UMS Stadium yesterday. The national sports school, who paraded its Under-14 team in the competition organised by Borneo Sports & Adventure Holidays, was just a class above their opponents as they concluded their challenge with an unbeaten record. The squad, who also features in the ongoing national Minister of Education League Cup Under-17 category, started the final tie aggressively and blasted home four goals in the opening half, in a match that was played 20 minutes in each half. After the break, they seemed to slow down their tempo, but still managed to score twice before the final whistle was blown. Earlier, in the third placing playoff, TABS Kota Kinabalu blanked Sabah’s sport school – SMK Datuk Peter Mojuntin – 2-0 while Madora Bay of Perth thrashed SMK Terusan Sugut 4-0 in the fifth-sixth placing playoff that saw them eventually avenge their 1-2 defeat in their last preliminary round tie prior to the playoffs. BJSS finished their campaign early when both the singles players were knocked out in the quarterfinal stage of the competition.

Athletics (Day 4)

Today is the last day of the athletics program and BJSS managed to add another silver through the efforts of Muhamad Zulhilman in the Triple Jump (Boys Aged 14 and under). He achieved this with a distance of 12.75 m in his final jump and in the process bettered his previous personal best of 12.58 m.

TENNIS (Day 2)

Khairil Anas and Saiful Azry were unlucky to be drawn against each other in the Singles matches played this morning. Khairil won the match and will proceed to the quarterfinals. Faezzam Said drew a bye and both players will play against opponents from Bangkok Sports School. However, all the Singles quarterfinal matches were postponed to tomorrow because many of the players are still involved with their Team matches.

In the Doubles matches played in the afternoon, Khairil Anas paired up with Faezzam to play with a pair from Suphanburi Sports School. Despite trying their best, they were outclassed by their opponents 0-2 (0-4 & 1-4)


ATHLETICS (Day 3)

BJSS got off with a bang this morning by bagging 3 gold medals through Aina Fadhlin (2000m Walk - Girls U14), Prakash Krishnan (High Jump - Boys U16) and Bibi Nuraishah (Shot Put - Girls U16). Among these athletes, only Aina improved on her personal best with a time of 10:58.99. Prakash managed a winning jump of 1.90 m while Bibi putted the shot to a distance of 10.99 m which was only 10 cm from her personal best of 11.09 m. Nurezzati Shasha contributed another silver medal for BJSS in the Pole Vault event with a clearance of 3.00 m.

In the afternoon, Arafat Mudir added another silver medal in the 400m Hurdles event to the bronze medal he collected in the 110m Hurdles. His time of 56.93 s narrowly missed his personal best of 56.00 s.

TENNIS (Day 1)
Tennis began their competition today with the team event. Although the boys are all under 14 years old, they had to take part in the Boys Under-16 Category as there were only two teams in the Boys Under-14 Category and all their matches were cancelled. Despite being pitted against bigger and stronger players, they managed to give their opponents (Nakhon Ratchasima Sports School) a good fight before losing the match by a score of 0-2. Faezzam Md. Said even managed to take a set off his opponent.

Match 1 - Khairil Anas: lost 0 - 2 (2-4 & 2-4)
Match 2 - Faezzam Md. Said: lost 1-2 (1-4, 4-1 & 2-4)

ATHLETICS (Day 2)
BJSS did better on the second day of the athletics competition by increasing their medal tally by 2 golds and 1 bronze. The gold medals were won by Md. Irfan Shamshuddin in the Discus and Shot Put events (Boys aged 16 and below). Arafat Mudir contributed the bronze medal from the 110m Hurdles (Boys aged 16 and below).

Athletics (Day 1)

3 athletes competed on the first day of competition and they are:

a) Yap Sean Yee : High Jump (Girls aged 16 and below)
b) Nurizzati Akmal : High Jump (Girls aged 16 and below)
c) Zulhilman: Long Jump (Boys aged 14 and below)

BJSS ended the first day with just a silver medal to show from Yap Sean Yee. She achieved a height of 1.61 m and this equalled her personal best and season best jump.

Tennis will begin their campaign tomorrow and hopefully we will do better on the second day.

Thailand Sports School Games 2011 (TSSG 2011) Report 1

Sawaddee from Suphanburi

BJSS will participate in the Thailand Sports School Games from 20th - 30th July 2011. The 14th edition of the games is also known as the "Bungchawak Games". This trip is sponsored by the school's Parent and Teacher Association and the team will take part in two sports: Athletics and Tennis. We will be represented by 17 athletes and 6 officials.

The team arrived safely in Suphanburi on 19th July and attended the grand opening ceremony on 20th July.



Yesterday the team had a rest before the competition starts and took the opportunity to visit Kanchanaburi - the site of 'The Bridge over the River Kwae' and the 'Death Railway'.






























Competition for Athletics will begin on 23th July and Tennis the day after.
